HB4074 and SB 235 --  Creates an office on oral health with a full-time director   FAILED

House Bill 4074 and Senate Bill 235 address the need to bring greater visibility to oral health in state government by creating an office of oral health, a full-time director and mandates a state advisory committee to plan for improvements. 


SB 13 -- Permits dental hygienists to practice under general supervision   PASSED

Senate Bill 13 amends the West Virginia Dental Practice Act to, among other things, permit dental hygienists to practice without a dentist being physically present in the office, provided he or she has personally diagnosed the condition to be treated, has personally authorized the procedures and will evaluate the performance of the hygienist.  Senate Bill 13 also allows dental hygienists to practice in a variety of public health settings, e.g., schools, community clinics, nursing homes, without a dentist being present.


HB 4051 -- Provides that only healthy beverages and healthy or nutritional snacks may be sold in the county school system   FAILED

House Bill 4051 is an effort to limit the use of soft drinks and sugary snacks in schools by enabling the State Board of Education to set nutritional standards for vending machine sales.
